“The cliché of the zombie with a beret”: the first zombie invasion in France in Walking Dead makes Internet users laugh

The new spin-off series from The Waling Dead centered on Daryl Dixon shows the origins of the zombie attack in France, with an undead wearing a beret. A wink that made Internet users laugh.

Warning, spoilers. The following paragraphs reveal plot elements from the series The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon.

Fifth spin-off of The Walking Dead, the series dedicated to Daryl Dixon has been broadcast since September 10 on AMC and AMC+ in the United States. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon recounts the adventures of the hero played by Norman Reedus, who finds himself in France.

First stranded in the South of France, Daryl Dixon becomes friends with Isabelle (Clémence Poésy), a young woman who has taken refuge in a convent with nuns. But this insertion in this religious residence is only a cover for this warrior personality who suffered a lot because of the zombie invasion.

Isabelle will even invest Daryl with a mission: that of protecting Laurent (Louis Puech Scigliuzzi), a young boy whom the nuns see as the Messiah who could save humanity. After the destructive attack on the convent by a dangerous military group, Daryl has no other choice but to leave with Isabelle, Sylvie (Laïka Blanc-Francard) and Laurent for Paris and Le Havre in order to give Laurent a chance to accomplish his “divine mission”.

French zombies… have berets!

Daryl will therefore travel across France in his own series. The choice of this country is not the result of chance since the origin of zombies is in France, as explained to us in the final episode of the series The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

And episode 2 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon honors us with a flashback to the beginnings of the undead epidemic in France, through a sequence featuring Isabelle (Clémence Poésy, therefore) in the metro, where she understands that the invasion has begun.

Isabelle gets scared and leaves the Saint-Georges metro station and discovers chaos in the streets of Paris. She will even face several devastating zombies and several road accidents.

If some fans were delighted to discover this sequence, other spectators – especially French – noted a rather tasty little detail. Indeed, one of the zombies that Isabelle meets wears a… beret! A hell of a cliché to represent the French, which made Internet users laugh as much as it annoys them.

Since the series centered on Daryl Dixon also returns to Isabelle’s journey, there is no doubt that we will be entitled to other sequences of flashbacks in Paris but also current sequences in the French capital, as revealed by the numerous teasers.

But if you want to discover the series in France, you will have to wait because The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon still does not have a broadcaster or a broadcast date in France.
