The companies Jamendo SA and Bridger SA, 100% subsidiaries of Llama Group SA, are celebrating a historic decision by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) breaking down copyright barriers.

Jamendo, an online music platform active in music licensing of independent music, and Bridger, a copyright management company, welcome the historic decision handed down by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) who broke down copyright barriers in Italy.

As a reminder, Italian legislation prohibited independent management entities (IME) established in another member state such as Jamendo or Bridger from carrying out intermediation activities in copyright matters.

Jamendo challenged this legislation and obtained a referral to the CJEU.

On March 21, 2024, the CJEU therefore ruled that this Italian legislation was incompatible with European law. It considered that this legislation constituted an unjustified and not proportionate restriction on the freedom to provide services.
