the companion of the young woman, killed by dog bites, indicted

Christophe Ellul, the companion of Elisa Pilarski, killed by one or more dogs, has been placed under judicial control, announced the Soissons prosecutor's office this Thursday, March 4, 2021.

According to the Soissons prosecutor's office, there are new developments concerning the investigation into Élisa Pilarski. The 29-year-old pregnant woman had died of a consecutive hemorrhage due to several bites in a forest in the Aisne at the end of 2019. According to a press release published this Thursday, March 4, 2021, her companion Christophe Ellul has been indicted "for having through clumsiness, recklessness, inattention, negligence or breach of a duty of care or safety (…) unintentionally caused the death of his companion as a result of aggression by several dogs he owned or kept."

At first, Christophe Ellul had questioned the pack of hunting dogs which was not far from the deceased body of his companion. But the results of a bite test and DNA analysis have suggested a possible "exclusive involvement of their dog Curtis (that the young woman was walking at the time of the facts, editor's note) in the bites that resulted in his death. " These results were released in November 2020. However, Christophe Ellul, the spouse of Élisa Pilarski, assured: "Curtis is innocent. He would never have killed Elisa."

The investigation also established that Curtis, the couple's American Pitbull Terrier, had been smuggled into France from the Netherlands. Indeed, the behavior of the dog, subjected to an expertise, raised doubts in the investigation. According to veterinarians, he was subjected to biting training, a technique banned in the country because it is considered animal abuse. Me Guillaume Demarcq, the lawyer of the venery society which had been implicated in the death of the young woman, spoke on the set of BFMTV : "Charges have been piling up against Christophe Ellul for a year, I am talking about testimonies, expert opinions, telephony, today it is the logical continuation of the acts carried out by the investigating judge." While Elisa Pilarski’s companion appealed against an expert report, the investigating judge in charge of the case rejected his request.
