PARIS (Reuters) – The Constitutional Council validated on Friday the transformation of the health pass into a vaccination pass from the age of 16, the main measure of the bill strengthening the tools for managing the health crisis, definitively adopted on Sunday by Parliament.

The Elders, on the other hand, censored the provision providing for making access to a political meeting subject to the presentation of a “health pass”.

The Constitutional Council also requests that the “vaccination pass” be terminated when it is no longer necessary.

As indicated Thursday by Prime Minister Jean Castex during a press conference, the vaccine pass will therefore come into force on January 24.

From Monday, access to many places and transport (restaurants, bars, interregional public transport, large gatherings, etc.) will therefore be conditioned, from the age of 16, on the justification of a complete vaccination schedule.

The negative test that it was until now possible to present instead of proof of vaccination as part of the “health pass” will now only be accepted to access health establishments and services.

The Constitutional Council had been seized in the week of two separate appeals, one from deputies, the other from senators. The extension of the vaccination pass to certain minors, or even the supervision of its methods of application were among the elements put forward in these referrals.
