Intel’s communication is entirely focused on processors Meteor Lake, but Raptor Lake Refresh is about to be released.

Raptor Lake Refresh will be the last Intel to be so named, but this 14th generation leaves doubt as to its performance. On paper, in fact, the technical characteristics of the processors are very close to those of their predecessors.

A proximity which pushes some to speak of a range for “ occupy the land » while waiting for the real revolution, Arrow Lake, next year. An assertion that the first measurements of the Core i9-14900K on Geekbench seemed likely to confirm.

A Core i5 with 14 cores/20 threads

Today, it’s the Tom Thumb of the gang of six – the Core i5-14600K – which is showing off. Our colleagues from VideoCardz actually relays information published by the Chinese site ECSM.

The latter seems to already have a Core i5-14600K in his hands even though the release should not take place before mid-October. An “exclusive” which allows ECSM to publish quantities of information and illustrations around this highly anticipated processor. Let us actually remember that the Core i5-1×600 have always been very well placed models.

As ECSM points out, this Core i5 has 6 efficient cores and 8 efficient cores for a total of 14 cores/20 threads. This is the same configuration as the Core i5-13600K and the difference seems to be limited to the boost frequency which increases to 5.3 GHz (+200 MHz) on the 14600K.

Up to +18% compared to 13600K

Note, however, that the processor presented by ECSM is identified as an engineering sample, so it is not a final version of the Intel chip. Additionally, the performances measured below may have slightly different contexts.

MT: 24528 → 25270 (+ 3%)

  • Cinebench 2024:

ST: 115 → 124 (+ 8%)

MT: 1255 → 1430 (+14%)

  • CPU-Z :

ST: 819 → 868 (+ 6%)

MT: 9847 → 10250 (+ 4%)

This comparison between a Core i5-13600K and a Core i5-14600K still gives a first idea of ​​the differences with often subtle differences. However, a clearer advantage is visible on the most recent benchmark, Cinebench 2024. An advantage to be compared to the additional cost of 4% that we mentioned just a few hours ago.
