The Count of Monte Cristo with Pierre Niney, 3 prizes for Off-season… Discover the winners of the Cabourg Film Festival

The 38th Cabourg Film Festival presented its Golden Swann and other prizes on June 15, 2024, under the eye of President Virginie Efira. Discover the jury’s and public’s favorites from these Romantic Days.

The 38th edition of the Cabourg Film Festival, Romantic Days, took place from June 12 to 16, 2024.

If the sun was a little less bright for this new edition, the numerous spectators (many screenings were sold out) were once again able to discover a rich selection of films, short and long, with as always a program highlighting French and international creation from all horizons, around the theme of romanticism and great feelings.

Among an eclectic list of winners, let us mention in particular the main jury prize awarded to a nugget, co-produced by Iran, Sweden, France, and Germany, whose name whets the appetite: My favorite cake by Maryam Moghadam and Behtash Sanaeeha.

The Pitch: Mahin is 70 years old and lives alone. One day, she decides to break away from her routine and rekindle her love life. An unexpected encounter then turns into an unforgettable evening… The release date of this film, which will be distributed by Arizona Distribution, has not yet been communicated.

Panache for the public!

In the Panaorama section, the audience prize is awarded to Jennifer Devoldère’s new production, Le Panache, with Aure Atika, José Garcia and Joachim Arseguel. It will be released on November 20. The film follows Colin, a young stutterer. He is entering a new college. However, it is not easy to move from the world of childhood to that of adults, especially when you are “different”. The road is strewn with pitfalls. But a decisive meeting with his theater teacher, a caring father figure, will guide his steps towards a new development, like a new birth.

In the Panorama section, let’s highlight 2 non-awarded feature films, but to follow in theaters for their respective releases. The highly appreciated Roman de Jim by the Larrieu brothers, noted by critics during the last Cannes Film Festival, notably for the performances of Karim Leklou and Laetitia Dosch (release August 14, 2024). And Claire Burger’s 3rd feature film, Foreign Language. This film about a Franco-German friendship finds a particular resonance at the moment. It captures the youth of two countries, two families, and implicitly, their concerns on the political level in the face of the rise of populism, seen from two countries (release September 11, 2024).

3 prizes for the film Off-season

On the Ciné-Swann side, 3 prizes were awarded to Stéphane Brisé’s film, Hors-saison, released last fall: Best direction for Stéphane Brizé, Best actor for Guillaume Canet and Best Actress for Alba Rohrwacher.

Finally, note the award of two awards in quick succession for Xavier Lacaille, for a short and a feature film.

Discover all the winners of this 38th edition of the Swann d’Or Ceremony, which took place this Saturday June 15 at the Deauville Casino.
