After Trover Saves the Universe and Accounting+, Justin Roiland announces High On Life on Xbox consoles and PC. The co-creator of Rick and Morty will put his humor at the service of this new game with an ever so quirky tone.
The Xbox Bethesda conference has made room for new and less popular games than Starfield, Overwatch 2 or Forza Motorsport. Justin Roiland, co-creator of the animated series Rick and Morty, was able to introduce us to High On Life on video, his new game after the irreverent Trover Saves The Universe and Accounting+.
High On Life, a sci-fi FPS not devoid of humor
High On Life is a first-person action game where you have to interfere with an alien invasion. The peculiarity of these little men from another planet is that they use humans “like a drug”.
You have surely understood it, in HOL, you are a bounty hunter trying to stop an alien invasion on Earth. These thugs of an interstellar cartel don’t just want to take control, they use humans like a drug. Yes yes, you read that right, a DRUG! And it is for this reason that your role as a bounty hunter is important.

The other singularity of the title is that the weapons are a form of life AND which will be addressed very regularly to the player. In the announcement trailer, one of them points out that it is possible to shoot as you want. Munitions, which are also life forms, can be reproduced without difficulty. An arsenal that will also be equipped with special skills.
Planets to visit
Besides the gunfights, High On Life will offer trips to different planets which are kept secret at the time of this writing. It will therefore be necessary to be satisfied with a teaser: surprises await the players.
All I can tell you is that if you love multi-dimensional Rick and Morty TV, you won’t be bored.
Too many jokes kill humor? Mike Fridley, director of the Squanch Games studio, reassures on this point and affirms that the FPS side absolutely holds up.
It’s not just about telling jokes, our titles are born out of Justin’s creative concepts, then we collaborate to ensure you’ll be constantly surprised and thrilled with your next discovery. We also want our games to be pleasant to play and not swim in the absurd. Or at least, in a form of absurdity that would be boring. This is our first FPS and we’re proud of its gameplay: it’s not a mediocre title with good jokes. High On Life is a good FPS that’s also really hilarious and weird.
High On Life will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) in October 2022. It will be included in Xbox Game Pass upon release.
