The Creator is an anomaly in the small world of American blockbusters. Far from adaptations and extended franchises, the science fiction film offers an original story and universe, with a certain visual ambition. Something to tickle our curiosity as spectators.

The Creator tells the story, in the near future, of an all-out war between humans and artificial intelligence. Joshua, an ex-Special Forces agent, is recruited to hunt down and neutralize the Creator, the elusive architect of an advanced AI behind a weapon that could destroy all of humanity. He will discover that the fatal weapon he is responsible for destroying is none other than a superior artificial intelligence that has taken on the features of a child.

At the crossroads of his cinephile inspirations, Edwards summed up the ambition of The Creator to our Screenrant colleagues: “The quickest way to explain it to anyone is like someone created Apocalypse Now in the universe of Blade Runner”.

If this story of open conflict between man and machine necessarily evokes Matrix And terminatorthe setting of the film set in Southeast Asia promises to open up some new horizons of the genre.
The film is also carried by an interesting cast: John-David Washington (tenet), Gemma Chan (The Eternals), Ken Watanabe (Inception), or Allison Jeanney (Juno). The Creator will be released in French cinemas on September 27, 2023.
