The Kingdom Hearts series continues to make waves with the recent release of its games on Steam. Series director Tetsuya Nomura shared a message on the franchise’s official Twitter account, offering some interesting insights for fans old and new. That’s all we can learn about it.

Nomura highlighted that the availability of Kingdom Hearts games on Steam represents a great opportunity for newcomers to experience this iconic series. It’s also an opportunity for long-time fans to dive back into the KH universe and prepare for future releases, although the date of the next title is still unknown.

In his message, Nomura mentioned that the team is working “hard in all directions.” While this phrase may seem vague, it suggests that several franchise-related projects are in the works. This statement gives hope that announcements could soon be made, beyond news regarding the Missing-Link mobile game.

The Kingdom Hearts franchise on Steam includes several collections and individual games. The Kingdom Hearts Integrum Masterpiece brings together all the titles available on the platform, offering a complete experience of the series. The KH HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX Collection includes four full games: KH Final Mix, KH Reof Memories, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, and KH Birth by Sleep Final Mix. Nintendo DS titles KH 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Re are presented as HD cinematic compilations.

A big batch of games

KH HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue offers two complete games: Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD and KH 0.2: Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage. This collection also includes KH χ Back Cover, a cinematic film made with Unreal Engine 4, which details the events experienced by the Prophets in KH χ.

The KH III Edition on Steam includes the Re Mind DLC, adding new story elements and additional boss fights, often considered among the best in video game history. Each platform has a unique Keyblade, the Steam one being called Dead of Night. Finally, KH Melody of Memory is not yet available on Steam and remains exclusive to the Epic Games Store for its PC version.
