In an interview with Shueisha and reported by ComicBook, the showrunner from the series Matt Owens therefore reveals that Eiichirō Oda had several requests regarding the live-action adaptation of One Piece, two of which are more important than the others. The mangaka indeed wanted each Mugiwara to keep his background. Obviously, Matt Owens was of the same opinion as him. “It’s so important to their identity, their dreams, their motivations, and how Luffy meets them and helps them rediscover those dreams. “.
Indeed, it would have been strange if the past so important in the development of the characters was changed. It remains to be seen whether it will be discussed in depth during these few episodes of One Piece. The other point on which Oda was not ready to make concessions concerns the powers that the characters possess thanks to their Devil Fruit.

The ultimate adaptation that fans have been waiting for?
