The Crowded Room: Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried in the casting of a new series on mental illness

Starring in “Spider Man: No Way Home” and “Uncharted”, nothing can stop the irresistible rise of Tom Holland who, like his girlfriend Zendaya in “Euphoria”, will soon also be the star of a series. In this thriller titled “The Crowded Room” the actor will play opposite Amanda Seyfried.

Created by Akiva Goldsman (“An exceptional man”) and directed by Kornél Mundruczó (“Pieces of a Woman”), this anthology, set to change setting and characters each season, will be devoted to mental disorders. More specifically, it “will explore the true and inspiring stories of individuals confronted with mental illness, having learned to live with it”, announces Apple TV + which will broadcast it on a date which has not yet been communicated at the time when we write these lines.

Composed of ten episodes, season 1 is inspired by the book “Billy Milligan: the man with 24 personalities” by Daniel Keyes. Tom Holland (who will also be executive producer) will play a man suffering from dissociative identity disorder followed by a psychiatrist played by Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!, Mank, the Dropout).

In real life, Billie Milligan, who previously inspired M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Split’ movie and Olivier Megaton’s ‘Monsters Inside’ documentary series to see on Netflix, is the first person to be acquitted of a crime due to multiple personality disorder.

By the late 1970s, he had been arrested for at least three rapes in Ohio and then found not responsible for his crimes due to what is now called dissociative identity disorder.

Note that this is not the first time that Tom Holland has appeared in an Apple TV+ program. He had already shot in the Russo brothers’ film, “Cherry”, in which he portrayed a drug addict suffering from post-traumatic stress.
