No real surprise: The number of hits on “The Crown” has increased since the death of Queen Elizabeth II. And clearly.

The access numbers of “The Crown” shoot up According to media reports since the death of Queen Elizabeth II. “The Crown” traces the career of Queen Elizabeth II since her coronation in 1952 in four seasons so far.

800 percent increase

In the UK, viewership of “The Crown” surged by an incredible 800 percent between September 9th and 11th. This is reported by Whip Media, which compared the numbers with the data from the previous weekend.

In the USA, access numbers increased by at least a quarter. According to the US company, in France it was a third.

Whip Media used data from its TV Time app to help calculate this. Users can follow their favorite programs and rate series and films. Links allow you to switch streaming providers directly. This also allows the company to calculate viewership, but only for users of the app. Netflix itself hasn’t released any numbers on increased interest in “The Crown.”

The fifth season of “The Crown” is currently being filmed and focuses on the 1990s. It is scheduled to be released on Netflix in November 2022.
