The Crown: Emma Corrin wanted explicit bulimic scenes

The new "The Crown" season is also about Princess Diana's bulimia. Emma Corrin asked the authors for an "honest account".

In the new episodes of the Netflix series "The Crown", Princess Diana's (1961-1997) fight against her eating disorder bulimia is a theme. Actress Emma Corrin (24), who will be seen in the royal role, said in an interview with "Radio Times" that she had asked the scriptwriters for additional bulimia scenes in order to portray the fight against the disease "honestly".

For example, scenes should be incorporated that show Diana vomiting. The actress had previously developed this with her movement coach. "We had worked on her (Diana's) body language and put together a document that we sent to the script team," said Corrin. "Can you incorporate some of this into the script, because we would like to work these scenes out properly?" The message to the writers said.

"Diana was open about it"

"I had the feeling that if we try to portray bulimia honestly, then we really have to show it," the actress said in an interview. "I don't think we should shy away from these things; Diana herself was very open about her experience with bulimia – and I admire that very much," said Corrin. Princess Diana revealed her battle with bulimia in a high-profile interview with Martin Bashir in 1995.

That Emma Corrin's wish was heard should also explain the warning that should be given before the corresponding episodes. According to "The Sun" the warning will be shown before three of the ten episodes of the new season.

Season four of "The Crown" will focus on the relationship between Diana and Charles and also show the 1981 wedding of the century. The highly anticipated new episodes will air on November 15th.
