The Crown season 5: Charles and Diana at loggerheads … Discover the first trailer under high tension

On Thursday October 20, 2022, Netflix unveiled a first trailer for season 5 of The Crown. Set in the mid-1990s, the new season promises to be explosive.

Broadcast since 2016 on Netflix, the series The Crown fictitiously retraces the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, torn between her royal duty and her family life. On Wednesday, November 9, the fifth and penultimate season of the series will be unveiled on the streaming platform. And to keep his fans waiting, Netflix unveiled the trailer on social media on Thursday, October 20, with the caption: “A new era begins“.

In effect, the series will retrace the 1990s. A very complicated period for the royal family, so much so that the year 1992 was named “The annus horribilis” by Queen Elizabeth II. It was during this period that many dramas and divorces will effectively mark the British monarchy.

An explosive trailer reveals a broken royal family

Over two minutes long, the trailer for season 5 of The Crown revealed itself on the title of Bittersweet Symphony of the group The Verve. And the least we can say is that the British show promises to return to all the dramas of the royal family. The video begins with the fire at Windsor Castle before suggesting the different divorces between Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, Prince Charles and Lady Diana or even Princess Anne and Mark Phillips.

Finally, some pictures of the shock interview given by the Princess of Wales to the BBC in 1995 are also featured in the trailer. And if Netflix production recently explained that we would not see Diana’s accident, her death seems to hang over the royal family. Something to make fans impatient at the idea of finally discovering this darker part of the monarchy and the descent into hell of Queen Elizabeth II.
