Imelda Staunton will flicker across the screens as Queen Elizabeth II in autumn 2022: Then the Netflix series “The Crown” will continue.
The series “The Crown” will continue in November 2022. This was announced by Netflix. The streaming service published a video on Twitter with Imelda Staunton (65). The actress will play Queen Elizabeth II (95) in season five. The 65-year-old answered from “The Crown” set.
In the clip, Staunton is sitting at the Queen’s desk and reveals that filming for the new season has started. She continues: “I’m delighted to be here and to take on the role of Queen Elizabeth from two outstanding actresses. Most recently the wonderful Olivia Colman. And who could forget the actress who started the role, Claire Foy. Me will do my best to maintain the very high standard that they have set. “

“Hopefully I look calm, collected and competent,” says Staunton, who adds: “Meanwhile, my stomach is doing somersaults. From the cast to the crew, we look forward to bringing you the next season of ‘The Crown’ in November 2022 . “
The fictional series is about the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. After the fourth season of “The Crown” covered the period from 1979 to 1990, the new episodes are set to take place in the early to mid-1990s. The plot is supposed to end in 1997, the year in which Lady Diana (1961-1997) was killed in a car accident in Paris.
“The Crown” returns in season five with a new cast. In addition to Imelda Staunton as Queen, Jonathan Pryce (74) will be there as Prince Philip (1921-2021). Lesley Manville (65) plays Princess Margaret (1930-2002), Dominic West (51) plays Prince Charles (72), Elizabeth Debicki (31) can be seen as Princess Diana and Olivia Williams (53) as Camilla Parker Bowles (74) . Jonny Lee Miller (48) will play Prime Minister John Major (78).
