Sarah Engels can be seen in her first leading role in January. The broadcast date for “The Dancer and the Gangster” has been set.
The first film in which singer, dancer and influencer Sarah Engels (29) can be seen in a leading role has a broadcast date. As the broadcaster announced on Thursday, the musical film “The dancer and the gangster – love in a roundabout way”, according to the complete title, will be shown on Sat.1 on January 17th at 8:15 pm. “I’ll always be proud of this film, because a film lasts forever,” says Engels enthusiastically about the project.
Pregnancy and emotions as challenges
Sarah Engels was already in front of the camera for “Traumschiff” (2019, ZDF) – she will also be featured in the upcoming New Year’s edition “Namibia” – and yet acting is rather uncharted territory for her. “The biggest challenge is definitely getting across different emotions as authentically as possible,” she explains. The four-week shooting time for the musical film in Berlin didn’t make her pregnancy any easier either: “Over time, of course, my stomach got bigger and bigger,” says Engels. “But we had great costume ladies who were always good at covering it up,” she adds.

One highlight chases the next
The news of the upcoming professional highlight comes just a few days after the private baby happiness. The daughter of Sarah and Julian Engels saw the light of day on December 2nd. “Our little princess Solea Liana Engels. On December 2nd, 21st we were finally able to hold you in our arms and from now on we will never let go of you. Dad, mom and your big brother love you infinitely and are full of happiness and pride,” it said a day later in the same post from the two of them on their Instagram accounts.
At the beginning of 2020, Sarah Lombardi, as she was still called at the time, and professional soccer player Julian Büscher, his birth name, made their relationship public. They got engaged in November 2020 and the dream wedding followed in May 2021. Since then, the two have been called Engels, their maiden name, by surname.
Alessio Lombardi-Engels, as her firstborn has been called since then, was born in 2015 and comes from Sarah’s marriage to her former “DSDS” colleague (2011) Pietro Lombardi (29). The two were married from 2013 to 2019, but separated since 2016.
