How the pricing table works
The Pebble Max comes in the form of a brick with slightly rounded corners measuring 22 x 9.5 x 7.2 cm and weighing approximately 1.2 kg. The enclosure is covered with mesh fabric and a silicone surround, a completely classic combination for this type of product. Robustness is therefore required, because such a coating allows the speaker to withstand shocks but also splashes of water as evidenced by its IPX5 certification. It also comes with rubber feet to limit vibration caused by bass.
Moreover, Tangent is full of praise for the audio rendering of its Pebble Max. Equipped with a 2 x 30 W amplifier powering two 5 cm speakers, the speaker would be able to deliver “crisp highs and deep bass usually reserved for much larger speakers”. Three equalization presets are present to adjust the audio rendering as desired: pop, vocal or deep bass.
The Pebble Max is not stingy in connectivity since it integrates Bluetooth 5.0 (SBC codec), a mini-jack input and a USB-C port for content playback and charging. It is also equipped with a microSD card slot if you still store music on this kind of medium. A microphone is also part of the speaker to allow you to answer calls or easily request your favorite voice assistant.
As is the case with many similar speakers, it is possible to pair two Pebble Max in order to obtain a stereo rendering. However, no indication is given on the possibility of pairing more than two speakers. Autonomy is announced at 10 am, a score a bit low compared to the competition.
The Pebble Max is already available for €99.
