Bolivia's former President Evo Morales has traveled to Venezuela after media reports from his exile in Argentina. He set out on Friday in a plane with the colors of Venezuela's state airline from the international airport in Buenos Aires, reported the state-owned Argentine news agency Télam, citing official sources. The television channel CNN Español reported that Morales wanted to meet with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and return to Argentina shortly. His former Minister of Economic Affairs, Luis Arce, has been the official winner of the presidential election in Bolivia last weekend since Friday.

  • The leftist Morales, the South American country's first indigenous head of state, resigned about a year ago after almost 14 years in office under pressure from the military.
  • The Organization of American States (OAS) accused him of fraud in his controversial re-election for a fourth term – this accusation has since been questioned by researchers.
  • Morales spoke of a coup.
