The Day Before: the scam is further confirmed with a new edifying investigation

The Day Before continues to be talked about. Launched last December after years of teasing, the title of Fntastic And MyTona will ultimately have been a real failure far from the expected promises, forcing the development studio to close its doors a few days after the release. Which did not prevent him from publishing a press release very recently.

Just after closing Fntastic and therefore servers The Day Before, a developer revealed that the title never had the ambition to be a MMO and that the studio’s founders Eduard and Aisen Gotovtsev managed their teams particularly poorly. This week, German sites Game Two And GameStar unveil a new investigation proving to what extent The Day Before was just a huge scam, with incredible management.

Several former employees were interviewed, it’s quite edifying, with sometimes edifying information. We thus learn that development was going in all directions, the fault of the Gotovtsev brothers, The Day Before’s ambitions were constantly changing. As an example, a developer reveals that the character creation tool always needed to be improved, first inspired by that of GTA Onlinethen by that of Hogwarts Legacy: Hogwarts Legacy and finally by that of Baldur’s Gate 3. Ditto for the city explored by players, originally oppressive and foggy, which eventually changed to something brighter after one of the studio’s founders played Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (available from €61.95 on Amazon, Cdiscount And there Fnac). Cherry on the cake, one developer even claims that he discovered that The Day Before would be a MMO while… watching the trailer.

Game directors who go in all directions to stick to the titles AAA which are a hit on the market, this is not new, but the leaders of Fntastic did even worse. The studio recruited volunteers, volunteers, notably in Yakutsk, the studio’s hometown in Russia, but also in Kazakhstan and Armenia. Young, inexperienced developers who had to do unpaid overtimesome say they had to beg for a break to eat or shower.

As if that were not enough, a developer assures that Fntastic forced his teams to pay fines if they didn’t do a good job, with for example a $1,930 fine following poor quality audio recording. The studio put enormous pressure on its developers, going so far as to fire five testers after one of the Gotovtsev brothers found a bug in the game.

Today, even former members of Fntastic do not know where Eduard and Aisen Gotovtsev arethey disappeared when launching The Day Before last December, before announcing the closure of the studio via Microsoft TeamsGame Two think they are now in another studio developing mobile games, but difficult to confirm the information.

The Day Before may well mark the video game industry for a long time, as Abandoned before him. At least Hasan Kahraman and Blue Box Game Studios had the decency not to bring out their game.
