After the trauma of The Day Before, we now tend to be wary of games that come out of nowhere and sell a little too much of a dream. A new example in this area is making headlines.
The game in question is called ILL, developed by Team Clout, a studio practically unknown to the battalion. On paper, it is a horrific FPS developed on Unreal Engine 5. However, many signs tend to indicate that it could represent a new case of The Day Before. We dive into horror to study the file.
A new sick project like The Day Before?
The Day Before has been dead and buried for a few months, but has left significant scars. In player memory, this is indeed one of the worst scams in the history of video games. The too-good-to-be-true horror survival MMO has ripped off a lot of players, due to an extremely aggressive and misleading marketing campaign.
To stay on the theme of horror, another game on paper that is very promising is currently arousing both excitement and fear. The title in question is ILL, a horrific FPS, developed by a certain Team Clout. As an engine, it would run on the dazzling Unreal Engine 5. Although quite discreet, the project has clearly attracted the attention of survival horror fans. What little we have seen of it turns out to be magnificent, with absolutely nightmarish monsters. We’ll let you judge the result for yourselves, but a disclaimer is in order. Sensitive souls refrain, ILL promises to be extremely gory and graphic. Several bloody elements do not stick
Despite fairly promising signs, ILL sows a lot of doubt. On the Team Clout YouTube channel, for example, we only find one other video besides the one above. The studio, which appeared almost out of nowhere, is particularly secretive, to the point of being suspicious. Most of the game’s development details go through a Patreon page. So only people willing to pay can learn more. In a dynamic aimed at making one’s project widely known, one would rather tend to advertise it as widely as possible.
The fact that ILL has a Steam page does not necessarily exonerate him. This was also the case with The Day Before. Another point of similarity with this traumatic title: videos that are a little too good to be true. The game would apparently be developed on the Unreal Engine 5. But the few videos of the title in action scattered on the Web appear pre-rendered. Very difficult therefore to judge the true quality of the final product. We had the bitter experience of this when The Day Before was released, with a result light years away from the gameplay videos shared during “development”. We would like to give ILL the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately for him, the latest huge scam is still too present in people’s minds not to raise huge red flags when seeing this Team Clout project.
