The star journalist of the 1 p.m. news Jean-Pierre Pernaut died on Wednesday March 2 at the age of 71. He died of lung cancer. A disease on which he had confided without taboo in the face of the French.

Impossible not to feel emotions at the announcement of the death of Jean-Pierre Pernaut. The star journalist of TF1, record holder of the JT of 1 p.m. died in hospital at the age of 71. Last November, Jean-Pierre Pernaut revealed that he had lung cancer. The journalist made this revelation on Twitter in a message that was both sober and moving. A cancer which, after having reached his right lung and having healed, had finally moved to his left lung. He had thus confided in a touching video that he was indeed sick.

If I talk about it, it’s already because you shouldn’t be afraid of cancer, I’ve already had one, the prostate, you know, I talked about it to try to improve prevention. Same thing for the lung. I always thought it could only happen to other people. For years, I was told: ‘Quit smoking, quit smoking’. I didn’t believe it, well I should have quit smoking.” His wife Nathalie Marquay had confirmed the information on the set of TPMP this November 23, 2021.

The inoperable cancer of Jean-Pierre Pernaut

After a first operation last July, Jean-Pierre Pernaut and his wife Nathalie Marquay have therefore slowly recovered. Before plunging again when the cancer relapse was announced at the beginning of October. This new cancer proving inoperablethe journalist had to undergo a very heavy treatment, in particular by radiotherapy.

He thus confided to Paris Match in December 2021 “Last week, I was still exhausted. For a month and a half, my form has not been dazzling: I can neither walk for a long time nor stand for a long time.“. He thus had to withdraw completely from the antenna of LCI on December 17, to rest.
Things accelerated in February 2022. Jean-Pierre Pernaut died in hospital on March 2, 2022.
