The day: Interior ministers want identification on social networks

The interior ministers of the federal and state governments want an obligation to identify themselves in social networks. "This is not a matter of a mandatory name," said Lower Saxony's Interior Minister Boris Pistorius at the end of the Interior Ministers' Conference in Erfurt. However, anyone who uses a pseudonym on social media or on gaming platforms should in future have to deposit their identity with the respective provider.

"If a crime does actually occur, this person must also be identifiable by the police," emphasized Pistorius as spokesman for the SPD-led interior departments.
