An elite soldier of the Special Forces Command (KSK) has been classified as an Islamist and has been released from the Bundeswehr. According to information from the dpa, the man was noticed last year, was then classified by the Military Shield Service (MAD) in the "Red" category as an extremist and released in early 2020 after a judicial disciplinary procedure.

In recent years, the MAD has repeatedly exposed Islamists in the Bundeswehr. According to his annual report published in May, 14 extremists were exposed in 2019, including 8 right-wing extremists, 4 Islamists and 2 so-called imperial citizens / self-administrators who deny the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany as a state.
