A few days after a larger steep slope at Sellin on the island of RĂ¼gen, there was another landslide on the cliff there. This became known during a visit by State Environment Minister Till Backhaus. This smaller demolition and an old bunker, which is also in danger of slipping, could become a burden for the community, explained the SPD minister after his visit. Backhaus announced an examination of whether the country can help financially. The reason for the ministerial visit was a major landslide on the steep coast of the Baltic Sea on November 14th.
- Here about 150 square meters of a steep slope with tall trees north of the pier fell onto the beach.
- According to Mayor Reinhard Liedtke, the statics of this slope, which is around 30 meters high, had long been considered unsafe.
- Originally planned maintenance measures failed due to responsibilities. Most recently, the community wanted to replace trees with bushes in November, but that no longer happened.
