The day: Many police applicants do not speak German well enough

Lots Police service applicants fail in the application process because they are the Spelling too bad dominate. This is shown by research by dpa in various federal states. In Schleswig-Holstein, for example, the failure rate was dictation most recently at an average of a good 30 percent. Only six percent could not meet the sporting requirements. Around 20 percent of high school graduates and 45 percent of applicants with a middle level failed because of the dictation. And in Lower Saxony, every second participant spanked the aptitude test and therefore dropped out of the application process.

The exams vary from state to state; however, it turns out that spelling is an Achilles' heel of applicants. Orthography is important because office work accounts for around half of the work hours of many police officers. The officials write reports to the public prosecutor and the court – and they should be flawless.
