In the troubled Sudanese region of Darfur, 83 people were killed in violent clashes between members of different ethnic groups. 160 others were injured.

The fighting was triggered on Saturday by clashes between the Massalit tribe and Arab nomads. Several buildings, including residential buildings, burned down. The authorities imposed a curfew in the state of West Darfur. The government in Khartoum sent a delegation to the region to try to resolve the conflict.
