In a raid on an illegal treasure hunter, police officers in Schleswig-Holstein and Baden-Württemberg confiscated valuable archaeological finds. Among them are, among other things, Roman coins and so-called cloaks from the time of the migration, as the police said.
The suspect is a 55-year-old man. He was noticed when he was spotted with a metal detector in a field near the famous Viking Museum Haithabu in Schleswig-Holstein.
Investigations then led to the 55-year-old from Baden-Württemberg, who travels the area more often for work. He did not have a permit for metal detector searches.
The man is now being investigated, among other things, for violations of the monument protection law.
