The number of hunters in Germany is increasing
The number of hunters in Germany rose by 8,900 to 397,414 within one year. Compared to 1990 there were 75,700 more hunters. This was announced by the German Hunting Association.
- Most holders of a hunting license live in North Rhine-Westphalia with 92,074 hunters, followed by Lower Saxony with 60,000.
- In relation to the number of inhabitants, Schleswig-Holstein is ahead, there are 8.3 hunters for every 1000 inhabitants. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania there are eight, in Lower Saxony seven and a half.
- According to the association, the number of women hunters has also increased. A quarter of the participants in hunting training are now female – and the trend is rising. With seven percent of all hunters, women are still clearly in the minority when it comes to hunting.
