US President Donald Trump has denied a newspaper report that he has received intelligence information about alleged Russian premiums for Taliban attacks on US soldiers in Afghanistan. In a series of angry messages on Twitter, Trump accused the New York Times of spreading false reports. Nobody informed him about the "so-called attacks by the Russians on our troops in Afghanistan". Moscow spoke of "unfounded allegations", and the Taliban also rejected the US newspaper's report.
The New York Times, citing government officials, reported that agents of the Russian Military Intelligence Service (GRU) had given fighters to the radical Islamic Taliban and related criminals money for deadly attacks on US and NATO soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.
