LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The death of American actor Matthew Perry was caused by the “acute effects of ketamine”, an anesthetic sometimes used to treat depression, the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office said on Friday .
Other factors, heart disease and drowning, also contributed to the “Friends” star’s death, believed to be accidental, at age 54.
The autopsy report also cites “the effects of buprenorphine,” a medication used to treat opioid use disorder.
Best known for his role as Chandler Bing in the hit 1990s television series “Friends”, Matthew Perry was found lifeless in the jacuzzi of his Los Angeles home on October 28.
The actor published his autobiography last year in which he described his long years of fighting against addiction to alcohol and drugs.
