Work on the film “The Death of Robin Hood” is scheduled to begin next year. Now the main actors have been decided.

With “The Death of Robin Hood” Michael Sarnoski promises to bring a never-before-seen side of the legendary hero to the screen. Filming on the epic is scheduled to begin in February 2025. Now the two main actors have been announced. As “Deadline” reports, “Wolverine” star Hugh Jackman (55) will take on the role of Robin Hood. Jodie Comer (31) takes on the female lead.

“It was an incredible opportunity to reimagine and renew the story we all know of Robin Hood. Finding the perfect cast to bring the script to the screen was crucial,” said director Sarnoski. He is absolutely satisfied with the Golden Globe winner and the “Killing Eve” star. “I couldn’t be more thrilled and trust that Hugh and Jodie will bring this story to life in a powerful and meaningful way,” said the American.

“The Death of Robin Hood” is a dark reinterpretation

In the film, however, Jackman will not be seen as a strong king of thieves as expected. According to the official log line, he is much more “a battle-hardened loner, [der] finds himself seriously injured in the hands of a mysterious woman who offers him a chance of rescue.” In the film, Robin Hood is supposed to deal with his past full of violence and crime.

The film is produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett. “This is not the Robin Hood story we all know. Instead, Michael has created something much more grounded and deeper,” they say. The world will “love to see Hugh and Jodie together in this epic.”
