LIMA (Reuters) – Peru’s incumbent President Pedro Castillo was arrested by security forces on Wednesday, footage released by national police showed minutes after a vote by Congress to impeach him.
In the process, Vice-President Dina Boluarte was sworn in as interim president.
The impeachment and arrest of Pedro Castillo occurred after the president attempted to dissolve parliament by decree to avoid being impeached.
