fun, news, tips… what else?

Marzia and Simone, an Italian couple, were due to adopt a baby girl from Ukraine in March. But the procedure was suspended due to the war in Ukraine.

Marzia and her husband Simone were to fly to Ukraine on March 20 to be able to officially become, two days later, the parents of little Anastasia. But the war in Ukraine, launched by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has suspended the plans of this Italian couple. “In the midst of events as dramatic as the war in Ukraine, great leaders always forget that there are simple people like us“, lamented Marzia with our colleagues from France 3 Alps. With her husband, this resident of Turin had started a procedure two years ago to adopt this 5-year-old Ukrainian girl.

And to say that all we needed was the signature of the Ukrainian judge to finally become Anastasia’s parents“said Marzia, who still remembers the first meeting with little Anastasia, which dates from last December. “This child, from the first moments spent together, was a real spectacle for us! She and I didn’t need to speak the same language to understand each other: everything went through the eyes!“, she recounted.

“We taught him his name in Italian”

For now, Anastasia is forced to stay in the adoption center in Vinnytsia, her birthplace in western Ukraine. Marzia cannot, for the moment, see the face of the little girl only on the screen of her telephone. And the mother-to-be did not fail to introduce the little girl to her whole family, thanks to video calls. “We introduced him to Papa, Mama, the house…the cats too. And then the “Nonna” (grandmother). He was taught his name in Italian. She answers us by mixing a bit of everything: Ukrainian, Italian… Babussia to say Nonna: that’s not bad too!“, slipped Marzia to France 3 Alpes.

Only a bridge would have been blown on the outskirts of the city, for the moment according to what we know“, continued the Italian, who remains suspended on the news brought by Madame Elena, the woman who watches over their daughter at the adoption center. “If Madame Elena told me today that the little one needs me: I will leave immediately!exclaimed Marzia. Anything is better than this unbearable wait.”
