Devialet, the French manufacturer of luxury loudspeakers, releases the Devialet Mania, the brand’s first portable format product. The object with its typical rounded design aims to be beautiful, powerful, pure and precise. With a selling price starting at €790, the speaker will have to live up to all these superlatives.
Devialet is known for its home speakers with a unique look and phenomenal power. While several collaborations with Free and Huawei, with the Sound Joy, for example, have made the brand known while making it more accessible to the general public, it is nonetheless a luxury brand. The price of its most affordable speaker, the Phantom I or its soundbar, consumer product par excellence, starts at 2300 €.

Devialet today announces the marketing of Devialet Mania, its first high-fidelity portable speaker. In the company’s own words, the co-spherical design houses the Phantom’s signature twin side woofers. A delicately woven, textured mesh fabric membrane envelops the speaker’s exoskeleton. A carrying handle on the top of the device emphasizes its transportability. To 2.3 kg on the scale and dimensions of 176 mm x 193 mm x 139 mm, it is however far from light.
The Devialet Mania is a luxury portable speaker
According to the company, the Devialet Mania has inherited the sound signature of all the brand’s other products, while delivering a 360° stereo. As it should be, the product is equipped with all the latest technologies. In addition to being certified splash-proof, the speaker adjusts from a iOS or Android app. It connects via Wifi, Bluetooth, is compatible with Spotify Connect, Airplay 2 and can be used with the majority of voice assistants. Nothing is missing. The device charges via USB-C, and offers up to 10 hours of listening away from an electrical outlet.
The great novelty brought by the Devialet Mania resides in a new patent. Active Stereo Calibration (ASC) technology calibrates the sound to the environment. To do this, it carries out an acoustic mapping of the premises using four microphones combined with an on-board artificial intelligence system. All this has the effect of automatically change the sound rendering according to the physiognomy of the space for a guaranteed feeling of immersion. The Devialet Mania is available in Light Grey, Deep Black or Gold (Paris Opera model) for a price oscillating between 790 and 990 €. Those who want to enjoy the sound and design of Devialet at a lower cost but cannot dedicate such a sum to the purchase of a speaker can always fall back on a subscription to the Player Free Devialet box, which only costs 7 € / month.
