The Diplomat: Keri Russell (The Americans) joins the cast of the series


Disappeared from the small screen since the conclusion of “The Americans”, Keri Russell has just landed the leading role in the new Netflix series, “The Diplomat”.

The actress will play the role of Kate Wyler, a diplomat who finds herself appointed to a strategic position when an international crisis breaks out. A new job for which she is not sure to be up to it, and which could have dramatic consequences for the rest of her career, and on her marriage.

The series The Diplomat is presented by Netflix as a political thriller, and will have a first season of eight episodes. Deborah Cahn, who appears in the production of acclaimed series such as The West Wing, Homeland, Fosse / Verdon, or Grey’s Anatomy, who will occupy the position of showrunner. For the moment, no production or broadcast date has been revealed.

Keri Russell became known to the general public thanks to the series Felicity, by JJ Abrams, which allowed her to win a Golden Globes in 1999. She also played the role of Elizabeth Jennings in The Americans alongside Matthew Rhys (who has since become her husband) between 2013 and 2018.
