Fraudsters pretending to be the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP) are targeting taxpayers. They can extort money by submitting a surcharged number to the victim or by asking him to send money by wire transfer.
In an all-digital era, taxpayers are wary. Scammers are currently trying to impersonate the General Directorate of Public Finances (DGFiP) in order to extract money. The warning comes from Bercy, which on the home page of the website impots.gouv.frwarns taxpayers.
Different scams are listed. Thus, some websites refer the declarant wishing to contact the Public Finances Department to premium rate numbers (0899 or 0891). However, to reach a public finance center, it is ordinary telephone numbers for local calls (in 01, 02, 03, 04 or 05) or a single number, 0809401401, but which is not no surtax (price of a local call).
Businesses targeted by scammers
Other scams target businesses more specifically. They receive an email usurping the electronic addresses of the DGFFiP with sometimes false forms attached. It is therefore necessary to remain vigilant and to check the sender’s address carefully. It is also necessary to identify spelling or syntax errors. The false transfer order scam pushes an employee to make a bank transfer to a fraudulent account, impersonating the real creditor points to the tax website.

Again, it is recommended to look carefully at the sender’s email address, to be wary of international transfer requests or changes of contact details. The DGFiP emphasizes that it has taken both technical and legal action to put an end to this fraud.
