The DIY paradise – dolls: fascination since the beginning of mankind

Dolls: They have been there for us since we were born. Not just for girls. Because, if we think about it, who hasn’t had some little figurines in their room? And what is the difference between these figures and a doll? Doll manufacturers would probably be appalled by this question.

Dolls definitely look similar to humans. Ever since the Neolithic Age, attempts have been made to imitate humans. The girls built something out of branches and stones that they could mother. This behavior is part of the human behavioral repertoire. The doll museums in Sonneberg and Waltershausen show what an important role these figures played in children’s development: Doll production developed into a branch of business as early as the 15th century, even though initially only one-off items were made. In Nuremberg, Sonneberg and in Waltershausen in Thuringia, doll factories were developed by Johann Daniel Kestner Jr., Heinrich Handwerck, Max Handwerck, Kämmer & Reinhardt, König & Wernicke, Bruno Schmidt, Otto Gans, Seyfarth & Reinhardt. The French market was also supplied by the cities mentioned above. International Doll Day (second Saturday in June) was created by US collector Mildred Seeley in 1986 to celebrate not only dolls, but the caring love of their owners. She herself has never seen the countries from which her dolls came. Traditionally, International Doll Day is celebrated by giving away a doll.Götz 1490366 Precious Day Girls Jessica Color&Lace Doll 46 cm tall standing doll, blonde, long hair, blue sleepy eyes, plus 10-piece set€79.95Click here for the doll.Barbie HDJ36 – Malibu magic light mermaid doll (30 cm, blonde hair) With water-activated light-up function and pink strands, gift for children from 3 years €28.22Click here for the Barbie doll.Zapf Creation 827956 BABY born Magic Girl
