After the success of the first episode, which served as a pilot to develop a potential series, Michel Cymes and Dounia Coesens return for a new chapter of La Doc et le Véto this Tuesday, May 17 from 9:10 p.m. on France 3.

Airing in March 2021, the pilot had been successful, taking the top spot in the evening’s ratings with 4.68 million viewers, or 20.7% of the public and 6.0% of elderly female purchasing managers. under the age of fifty (FRDA-50). It is therefore no surprise that France 3 has decided to offer a new episode to its series of TV movies.

If the first opus saw the doc Emma Colin, played by Dounia Coesens, arriving in a small Auvergne village and having to live with Pierre Josset, the local veterinarian played by Michel Cymès, this second episode entitled “Leaving and coming back” focuses on new problems now that the two friends have managed to tame each other.

In this new 90-minute episode, the duo is confronted with the burglary of their respective cabinets by three teenagers from the village. The behavior of these idle young people goes against the aspirations of Inès, a young girl from the city who thrives in contact with nature and does an internship in Pierre’s veterinary practice. At the crossroads of the lives of those who want to leave and those who are trying to put down roots, La Doc and the Véto have a lot to do to reconcile the inhabitants of Valerande-les-Chantelle.

If the scenario of this TV movie is not always subtle (we have not stopped counting the number of times the word “young” or “youth” has been pronounced by the characters), La Doc et le Véto remains a pleasant to watch, in particular thanks to the Coesens-Cymes duo that we are pleased to find.

By taking on the problem of young people in the countryside, the two screenwriters Sylvianne Corgiat and Bruno Lecigne show us a very real facet of rural life. Faced with a lack of perspective for the future and boredom, teenagers only dream of one thing, to run away to discover the world.

This new episode of the Doc and the Véto also lays the foundations for future opuses, the character of Emma being in search of answers as to her origins and the identity of her mother. The writers even offer us an end-of-episode cliffhanger that suggests that a sequel is already in the pipeline for our two big-hearted heroes.
