Shock news for doctors fans: The punk band can now completely cancel their tour after a postponement of several months.

On September 26th, 2021 Die Ärzte will release their new album “Dunkel”. This year Farin Urlaub (57), Bela B (58) and Rodrigo Gonzalez (53) wanted to present the new record on a tour through German-speaking countries. But now the punk band has canceled the “In The Ä Tonight Tour”. That gave the band known on their homepage.

“After long struggles, detailed discussions and weighing up all the known facts, we have decided to completely cancel the IN THE Ä TONIGHT tour,” it says on the website.

Inconsistent situation of the corona measures

According to the doctors, the reason for the rejection is the different corona measures in different federal states or Austria and Switzerland. In some places, concerts are allowed with the 2G rule, in others not. “Unfortunately, a tour as large as the one we are planning cannot be carried out with so much uncertainty about the permit situation”.

Postponing it by a few weeks is not an option for logistical reasons, as concerts could still be canceled at short notice and this would make cancellation even harder for fans and employees.

The “In The Ä Tonight Tour” was supposed to start in December 2020, with October 30, 2021 planned as the new kick-off date. The tour should offer 26 concerts in 15 cities. Tickets that have already been purchased can be refunded from September 27th, 2021.

Tours are to take place in 2022

The doctors do not want to cancel the tours planned for 2022. The band hopes for a comprehensive implementation of the 2G rule and a higher vaccination rate by then. In addition, open-air gigs are less worrying than concerts in the hall.

The “Buffalo Bill in Rome Tour” is scheduled to start in Hanover on June 3, 2022. Performances in smaller Berlin clubs are planned for May. The intimate “Berlin Tour MMXXII” should run parallel to the big tour.
