With the episode “The Dream Ship: Lapland” (2022), ZDF broke with a tradition. This episode of the popular long-running series was the first that was not broadcast in the three traditional timeslots – Christmas, New Year and Easter. Instead, she ran on Sunday after “Wetten,dass..?”. In 2023, the station repeated the procedure, and a fourth “Dream Ship” film was shown on Sunday after the legendary Saturday evening show with presenter Thomas Gottschalk (73).

And what does it look like for 2024 – now that “Wetten, dass…?” is history first? “Four ‘Dream Ship’ editions are also planned for this year,” said the responsible ZDF spokeswoman when asked by spot on news. After the New Year’s edition, there are still three broadcasts for the current year.

Easter we’re going to Thailand

The station reveals this much about the next upcoming episode: “‘The Dream Boat: Phuket’ is expected to be broadcast on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024, 8:15 p.m..” It is unclear whether the special edition will run again in November, because: “Further broadcast dates have not yet been determined,” said the spokeswoman.

But this year there will not only be a lot of broadcasting, the TV travel series launched in 1981 by producer Wolfgang Rademann (1934-2016) will also be expanded to include four more films in 2024. “Four ‘dream ships’ will be filmed with travel destinations Argentina, Curacao, Miami and Hudson Valley by the summer of 2024,” says the broadcaster.

Which actresses, actors and guest stars will be with Captain Max Parger (Florian Silbereisen, 42), staff captain Martin Grimm (Daniel Morgenroth, 60), hotel director Hanna Liebhold (Barbara Wussow, 62), ship’s doctor Dr. Jessica Delgado (Collien Ulmen-Fernandes, 42) and cruise director Oskar Schifferle (Harald Schmidt, 66) are allowed to sail across the world’s oceans is still a big secret. “The cast of the individual films has not yet been finalized,” says ZDF.

By the way, the Easter edition has been around since 2017. From 2012 to 2016, the TV sails were only hoisted on Christmas and New Year’s Day. From 2000 to 2011 there were sometimes two, sometimes three editions. The first New Year’s Day episode aired in 1984, the first on Boxing Day in 1990.
