A 74-year-old woman was hit by a car on a protective path with traffic lights in Rosental an der Kainach (Voitsberg district in Styria) on Saturday evening.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m., the two road users collided on a protective path on Packer Straße (B70) in Rosental an der Kainach. The protective path in question is regulated by a traffic light, with the 18-year-old car driver from the Voitsberg district seeing the red light This may have been overlooked for reasons that are still unknown. The pensioner was thrown against the windshield and ended up lying about 30 meters away. She suffered such serious injuries that she died a short time later in the LKH Weststeiermark.Eyewitness provided first aidA witness to the accident immediately provided first aid and notified the emergency services. The Red Cross and an emergency doctor then took over the medical care of the West Styrian woman and attempted to carry out life-saving measures on the critically injured woman. Alcohol test was negativeAn alcohol test carried out on the driver was negative. The Graz public prosecutor’s office ordered the seizure of the accident vehicle and the 74-year-old’s body. The investigation into the exact nature of the accident is still ongoing.
