The Duchess Blowout
Duchess Kate’s hairstyling secret
Many people envied Duchess Catherine for her great hair. Rightly! We reveal how you can do the “Duchess Blowout” yourself at home.
Even if there are certainly many things that one could envy about Duchess Catherine, it is her hair that everyone has probably dreamed of. She almost always wears her hair loose and with a great swing – we call it “The Duchess Blowout”.
Hair like dear Kate
The special thing about her hairstyle isn’t necessarily the swing, it’s the finish. Shiny, without frizz and smooth. This is what Kate’s personal hairstylist Richard Ward said in an interview with “People”. He also revealed how each of us can copy the hairstyle.
The perfect “Duchess Blowout” begins after washing your hair. In no case should you let your hair dry, but start blow-drying straight away. Otherwise frizz can arise quickly. Kate’s stylist also always uses a nozzle on the blow dryer, as this allows the heat to be concentrated and the hair structure looks more even. Before blow-drying, your hair should also be in the best possible condition. Brushing with an anti-static and detangling hairbrush is a MUST!
If you want a lot of volume on the top of the head, you can use a root lifting spray or a classic volume mousse. You should put a serum into the tips so that the hair is well-groomed and shines beautifully. Now you can blow the hair dry with the blow dryer until only 25 percent of the moisture is in the hair.
Blowout at home
Now divide your hair into individual sections that you can work on with the hairdryer and a round brush. Always place the brush under the strand of hair from below and blow-dry from above. Important: Don’t pull the hair towards the ground, but rather to the side or up, so that more volume is created. So you work your way through from game to game.
Are you guys too stressful? Alternatively, there are also tools that combine a hairdryer and a round brush, for example the Dyson AirWrap or the Blowout Babe Thermal Brush from Amika. This often makes it easier if you blow-dry your hair yourself.
For the ultimate duchess look, Kate’s stylist also uses curlers to cool the blown areas. This keeps the curl in the hair better and we create even more volume. It’s best to wrap each strand around a curler after blow-drying and let everything cool down for around 15 minutes at the end.
Finally, you can add some hair oil to the tips and the “Duchess Blowout” is ready. Admittedly, the whole thing takes a little practice, but once you’ve got the hang of it, you’ll never want to go without it again. Promised!
