Do you have a Mac and want to use a more privacy-friendly browser? DuckDuckGo reaches out to you. The macOS version of its browser has just entered the public beta phase.

Accessible here, the beta of the DuckDuckGo browser for macOS stands out for its sound approach to privacy and tracking. Like the search engine of the same name, no third-party tracking, targeted advertising, user profiling or recording of searches.

A beta still in its infancy, but well endowed

To begin, remember that DuckDuckGo presents its browser as a more effective alternative to the Incognito modes of other browsers. It claims it uses 60% less data than Chrome by blocking all trackers before they load, as pointed out BleepingComputers.

Available through a first version 0.30, the beta of the DuckDuckGo browser for macOS is still in its infancy. Long weeks of work will be needed before a final version is available, which explains the (relatively frequent) bugs that the first Mac users will face.

That said, this beta already sports interesting features such as the alternative YouTube player signed DuckDuckGo. Completely integrated, but optional, the latter allows you to watch YouTube videos without the platform being able to track you for advertising purposes. Another argument in favor of the browser: the integration of the open source Bitwarden password management solution. A very welcome feature, as it complements the universal 1Password autofill function, which is also integrated.
