The sweater is an essential piece of winter. Whatever its material, its shape… There are bound to be some that will please you! Trendy sweaters of the moment? Pieces with patterns, sailor sweaters with a high neck… But beware, because depending on the material, the sweater can be washed in the machine or by hand… You have to check the label carefully. Wool sweaters, for example, should be washed by hand in a basin of soapy water or in a washing machine with a delicate program. As for the cashmere sweaters, they are to be washed dry or by hand.
Who has never put a sweater in the washing machine and seen it come out, let’s say… shrunken? It can happen to anyone. Above all, do not throw away your sweater: there is a easy and effective trick to relax it again. All you need is one everyday product: conditioner.
The trick to resize a shrunken sweater
Fill a basin with lukewarm water, but not hot. Add conditioner, at the rate of 3 spoons per liter of water. Let your sweater soak for at least two hours. During this time, try stretching the fabric gently so that it relaxes. Then rinse it, always with lukewarm or cold water. Then, wring it well but gently so as not to attack the mesh. Finally, let it air dry. You can renew the operation if the sweater is not yet relaxed enough!
You can also soak it in a basin of water with white vinegar and let it sit for at least 5 hours. Rinse well and wring gently then let dry: voila!
