BRUSSELS, Sept 7 (Reuters) – The European Commission plans to cap the price of electricity produced from sources other than natural gas at 200 euros per megawatt hour (MWh) in the EU, shows a draft procured Reuters.

This measure is part of the plan drawn up by the community executive to try to bring down gas and electricity prices before winter.

The Commission draft consulted by Reuters also sets a target for member states to reduce their electricity consumption by 10% each month compared to the average for the corresponding month over the past five years. (Report Kate Abnett and Marine Strauss, French version Marc Angrand)
