Ecovacs is upgrading its window cleaning robot. A year after the release of its latest model, the Chinese manufacturer is launching Winbot W1 Pro, a robot capable of spraying water directly on the windows for more efficiency.

The manufacturer Ecovacs is well known to digital experts. Small variant today, since it is not a robot vacuum cleaner in question, but a window cleaning robot. Much less common, this device could however be useful for people who have large bay windows.

The Winbot W1 Pro is the first robot from the manufacturer to spray water to moisten the glass before it passes. In order to be autonomous, the device has a 60 ml water tank, apparently sufficient to clean an area of 20 m2. When it is empty, the Winbot W1 Pro warns the user with an audible alert and via the smartphone application. He then resumes his mission where he left off. There is therefore no need to apply a cleaning solution upstream, unlike the previous model, the Winbot 920, whose pads had to be moistened. Microfiber cloths are still present on this model, even if they now seem wider.
The intelligent robot is equipped with an algorithm optimizing its trajectory. Indeed, the Win Slam 3.0 technology creates a cleaning path so that the Winbot W1 Pro does not pass several times in the same place, while providing perfect surface coverage. The user also has the choice between three cleaning modes: fast, focused or deep. Edge sensors automatically detect the gap and then allow the cleaning of frameless glass surfaces. As for obstacles, such as handles, they are avoided by the robot thanks to an anti-collision system. Despite all these technologies, the Winbot W1 Pro is obviously not able to climb window frames. It will then have to be moved manually on each window, which can quickly constitute a waste of time when faced with a fragmented glass surface.

If the robot is now the thinnest (7.75 cm) and the lightest (1.5 kg) in the Ecovacs catalog, it is always worrying to see it fall to the ground. To avoid drama, 2800 Pa suction power ensures reliable adhesion to the window, while providing better cleaning. A safety cable is also provided to hold the robot in its (possible) fall. It must then be hooked to a carabiner and an elastic rubber string. Finally, a last reassuring measure without being reassuring, Ecovacs provides civil liability insurance to repair any damage caused following said accident. In case…
