In October 2023 she announced her retirement from the Swiss national team, and club football at the highest level will come to an end at the end of the season: Fabienne Humm, one of the country’s most successful players, is retiring. The 37-year-old striker won 10 championship titles and 7 cup victories with the FCZ women. Humm was top scorer no less than 5 times.
The Zurich native played 80 times for the Swiss national team and scored 25 goals. Her goal in injury time against Wales in October 2022 is unforgettable, with which Humm shot Switzerland into the 2023 World Cup finals in Letzigrund in the 121st minute. In total, Humm took part in 4 major tournaments (2x World Cup, 2x European Championship).
A hat trick in 4:33 minutes
The tricky and cold-blooded attacker is also immortalized in FIFA history books. At the 2015 World Cup in Canada, Humm scored a flawless hat trick within 4:33 minutes of Switzerland’s 10-1 win over Ecuador. To date, no other player has achieved this feat faster at a FIFA tournament.
