Moore’s Law Is Dead. In this case, the firm would now bet on a launch during the second quarter of 2022.
If the news is confirmed, it would basically not be very surprising, while Intel is slow to officially communicate the complete technical specifications of its future ARC Alchemist GPU chips.
Intel’s GPUs might be a little behind
Recall that Intel originally announced a launch window for the first quarter of 2022, without giving more details. Subsequently, the month of March had unofficially been anticipated, but with the first quarter of 2022 now well under way, and in the absence of any news from Intel, the rumor peddled by Moore’s Law Is Dead is gaining weight.
As it stands, Intel’s objective would be to wait until it has enough stock available before marketing its graphics cards. A potentially beneficial strategy for the consumer: indeed the competition from AMD and Nvidia has not, until now, given so much trouble with its latest generations of GPUs.
Towards a launch spread between April and June depending on the references?
Another reason for this postponement, which still needs to be confirmed, is the need to fine-tune the drivers to deliver the best possible experience and allow the ARC Alchemist chips to show the best of themselves.
This potential postponement would thus allow Intel to spend enough time testing its drivers to ensure that everything is in order. It must be said that a failed launch, for one reason or another, would reflect badly on Intel, which wants to quickly establish itself as a credible alternative to AMD and Nvidia on the market for dedicated graphics solutions.
As reported WCCFTech, the firm would therefore ultimately bet on marketing starting somewhere in April – and potentially first for the entry-level solutions expected on laptops . The rest of the ARC range would hit the market later, in May or June, it reads. Intel could finally take advantage of PAX East to present its offer in detail. As a reminder, the show must be held between April 21 and 25.
