The episodes of the Rings of power each have the right to their making of

Waiting for the release of season 2 of rings of power, Amazon has just published on its SVOD platform several videos allowing you to discover a part of the backstage on the filming of each episode of the first season. Eight videos have been available on Prime Video since November 21, 2022, accessible provided you have a subscription to the service.

One making-of per episode rings of power

These eight videos are each quite short — about six minutes. But, they offer an overview of the conditions of production and inform a little more about the choices made, both in terms of story – which, in fact, distances itself from the writings of JRR Tolkien – and artistic direction. Orientations that have sometimes caused a lot of ink to flow among the public.

This is the case, for example, of mithril, the mineral that fascinates both Elves and Dwarves. In The Rings of Power, its origin and its role move away from what we know in the writings of Tolkien. The production does not dwell on it – on the other hand, the dynamics of the characters are explained there, which can help to better understand certain scenes, retrospectively.

The Rings of Power contain references to Tolkien’s universe. To explain them, articles were published throughout the broadcast – on Mordor, Adar, the mysterious white fanatics, Annatar or even Sauron. Other points, however, are still a mystery, such as the Stranger, sometimes confused with Gandalf.

Only regret: Amazon Prime Video still remains mysterious about the content of the credits of rings of power, which uses the technique of cymatics to animate sand to the rhythm of sound variations. We know that this opening contains twelve secrets – some of which are quite obvious. Maybe that will one day be the subject of another making-of.

Season 2 of rings of power is not expected before 2024.
