the eponymous hero finally reveals himself in a hallucinated trailer

After a gameplay video that did not feature the main character of the game, Alan Wake 2 finally unveils its eponymous hero in a trailer combining real shots, cinematics and captures of the game.

Despite the 13-year wait between the 2 opuses, RemedyEntertainmentstudio in charge of the sequel to Alan Wake, visibly takes pleasure in playing with the nerves of the fans. A first gameplay video of Alan Wake 2 suggests that the game will keep what made the charm of its predecessor, but there is a major oversight. Where is Alan Wake, the eponymous hero? And while we haven’t seen it yet, we learn that the release of the title will be postponed, for a good reason though.

Fortunately, Gamescom 2023 is here to keep us waiting. A new trailer was released during the show and this time, we see Alan Wake himself. The majority of the video consists of real shots, with real actors. A few bits of game cutscenes and gameplay dot the whole thing, but that’s obviously not what the studio wants to focus on.

The Hero of Alan Wake 2 Looks Lost in the Game’s New Trailer

Alan Wake is completely disoriented. He doesn’t seem to understand what he’s doing there and constantly puts on a puzzled look. A feeling that shines through throughout the trailer, which makes sense when you see (briefly) what ‘The Dark Place’ looks like, this parallel reality in which the writer is stuck. In terms of gameplay, Alan Wake can count on his faithful flashlightbefore quickly moving on to pistols and other rifles.

Alan Wake 2 will also feature Anderson Sagaan FBI agent in charge of investigating a series of ritual murders in the small town of Bright Falls. We will alternate between the two characters in gloomy and disturbing environments. The game is expected for the October 27, 2023 on Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. Remember that no physical version is planned. A deluxe edition understand two extensions and “skins” for the outfits of the two protagonists and some of their weapons.
